Disadvantages of Traditional Fax Machines

The traditional fax machine is a communication application that has been in the telecommunication industry for a long period. Throughout its existence, it has been able to help businesses in sending and receiving documents without actually sending the files. It is able to process documents over long distances by forwarding it via the use of telephone lines. It also does this process with the aid of facsimile papers, inks, toners and other necessary items. Exchanging of faxed documents between parties that are located in separate countries is also possible. This feature enables businesses to exchange files without having to ask the services of a logistic company.

Although the traditional faxing method has its benefits, it also had several disadvantages. Among the primary setback of this faxing service is that its costs can hardly be afforded by small and medium businesses. The installation, operational and maintenance costs of this faxing service proves too much to handle for small and medium enterprises. The price of the traditional facsimile machine alone is expensive.

Resources that are needed in the traditional faxing method can be depleted. This would mean that you would always have to purchase these items. Although these items do not cost much, buying them at a regular basis would make it very expensive. The worst thing about it is that you will not be able to perform facsimile transactions without these resources. Traditional facsimile machines are also susceptible to breakdowns. You would have to pay for maintenance services to solve this problem.

These setbacks are the reason why many businesses are switching to newer faxing methods. Of the many faxing services available nowadays none is more affordable than a computer fax service. It enables your computer to process fax operations and without ever requiring the resources of a traditional facsimile machine. Its fax transactions would also cost less since it uses the Internet as its medium instead of phone lines and networks.
